The first time I saw Soap and Glory on the shelf, I was totally attracted by its beautiful retro packaging. I’ve been seeing enough delicate and graceful designs on the market and that was like a fresh air and gave a more girly feeling. However, I haven’t got change to try any of Soap and Glory products until recently as I was busy buying all the popular brands. About three weeks ago I went to Boots for tissues. I went by the Soap and Glory shelf and suddenly wanted to buy something. – Is this the first sign of becoming a spendaholic? – I looked through the bottles and boxes and then the lady standing next to me recommended The Fab Pore 15 Minute Facial Peel. To be honest, I didn’t expect much from it initially. But since I bought it, I should at least give it a try.

This Facial Peel is actually a thick clay mask with green beads in it. It has a pleasant minty smell which is refreshing. It says on the box that it contains

  • Fomes Officinalis Extract – a mushroom extract that helps tighten pores.
  • Salicylic Acid – which helps loosen up the dead cells to unclog the pores.
  • Kaolin – a white cosmetic clay which absorbs the extra oil on the skin and smoothes the skin’s surface.
  • Vitamin E and Vitamin C – powerful antioxidants that helps prevent skin aging.

All these ingredients and benefits sound convincing and I was just hoping it would not be too strong or irritating.

There are two ways of using this mask. You can leave it on for either five minutes for a quick refresher, or fifteen minutes for a thorough deep cleaning facial. I started with the five minutes. I scooped out a grape-sized amount by a cotton bud and rubbed the dollop over my face. Unlike the hard beads in many other masks or exfoliators, the green beads in The Fab Pore Facial Peel are dissolvable and you need to massage in circles until they have all dissolved. After all the green beads disappeared, I laid down on my sofa and started counting the five minutes. The smell of the mask was nice and I had no irritating feeling at all. The mask was very easy to rinse off and left my skin very clean without drying it out. I looked closely in the mirror and I could see the pores became smaller and my skin looked a little brighter. I was very impressed. And after three days I used The Fab Pore again for 15 minutes. I could hardly see the pores after wash unless I looked really close.

I have used many different deep cleansing products and I can tell you that Soap and Glory The Fab Pore 15 Minute Facial Peel, which I got for only £7, is not much worse than any £20-£30 deep cleansing product.
