8. Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clarifying Lotion
This toner is Step 2 of Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions 3-Step System. As other Clinique toners it is an alcoholic toner. Hey hey hey, don’t be scared by the alcohol. It won’t set fire to your face just as drinking doesn’t literally set fire to your stomach. When you have acne problem, alcoholic products can clean your skin more effectively by removing the excess oil and dirt and killing the bacteria. It’s OK to use an alcoholic toner but just don’t overdose. You don’t pour it on your face do you?
Slightly different from some other toners, this Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clarifying Lotion has a deposit of some powdery substance at the bottom of the bottom, which I guess is a composition of some sort of anti-blemish ingredients. Shake vigorously every time before you open the lid, you’ll see the clear liquid becomes cloudy. Then pour some toner onto a cotton pad and apply. Well, on the bottle it says cotton ball but I use cotton pad as it’s easier to handle. I’m sure there’s not much difference.
I’ve heard a lot of people complaining about alcoholic toners are extremely drying. But to be honest, I have combination skin and I don’t feel it that way. I suppose maybe some people pour too much toner on the pad. What I do is I place the cotton pad against the bottle opening and quickly turn the bottle upside-down three to five times. Then I press the pad gently using my fingers to equally spread the liquid. Doing this will make sure you apply a proper amount of toner on your face.
However, if you still feel dry after applying the Clinique toner, you can add a moisturizing toner between the Clinique toner and moisturizer. After applying the Clinique toner, just pour some moisturizing toner on your palm, rub your hands together very gently, and pad on your face. This works better than a thick moisturizer. Here I would recommend a product I’ve been using for a long time. It’s a Japanese skin care product called Medicated Sekkisei Lotion from the Kose Sekkisei family. I will blog about it later.
From my experience, Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clarifying Lotion, as Step 2 of the Anti-Blemish System, does a very good job in further cleaning the skin without drying it. Does it really work for acne? As I said previously, YES, the Clinique 3-Step System saved my face. In my next post, I will tell you about the Step 3 moisturizer and more about my experience using the Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions 3-Step System.
